so much moisture in the air, any storm could bring 2 inch ofs rain in less than an hour. we have flash flood warnings for northern ocean county this evening or this afternoon i could say, we are already seeing the flash flooding, future tracker shows similar to yesterday, right along the i-95 corridor, 1 to 2 inches in a short period of time brings the possibility of flash flooding. i want to show you a picture from twitter to the national weather service. it looks like a tornado but it's a funnel cloud, unless it touches the ground it's not a tornado and a survey team with the national weather service looked at the damage and proclaimed it was not a tornado that caused all the damage. a down draft from the storm, a tremendous thunderstorm can pull down the strong winds, 60 to 70 miles per hour and winds like that can cause just as much

a news conference wrapped up a short time ago on this case and sara bloomquist will be along at 5:30 with more details. the fbi and other law enforcement agencies are looking for a body said to be a part of a cold case investigation on the 300 block of eerie street. several tents were set up over the area that they were searching. david henry is here with the latest. what more have you learn about this >> reporter: the fbi is involved in the active investigation, along with the county prosecutors office, they are looking into a cold case murder investigation and they descends on this neighborhood at 6:00 this morning startling the neighbors. >> someone said open the door, open the door and i said what? i look and saw the fbi. >> dozens of fbi agents, police and county detectives took over the 300 block of eerie street

adam joseph is at the big board tracking the storm. we are tracking severe storms in parts of kent county delaware, double scan live shows a cluster of torrential and drenching and

gusty thunderstorms. anywhere from salem county into parts of western cumberland county and the northern part of kent county and a good chunk of newcastle county until 4:45 p.m., this whole area of orange from salem to bridgeton and cedarville, extremely strong winds and hail and torrential rain and individual lightning, a cluster of storms pull together, from newark to middletown and elmer, and glassboro. south-southwest of berlin, 121 lightning strikes in the last 15 minutes. we switch double scan, any where you see purple, west of elmer, the size of a quarter, glassboro, pea size hail trying to develop with that storm but we are dealing with a nasty cell

east of middletown and this is an inch and a half diameter size hail. at least 115 lightning strikes in the last 15 minutes and it's heading over the bay into new jersey, new jersey you have been dealing with the thunderstorm but the worst part of it is about to bump over the river here and head into that particular county. the other area wrez dealing with rain and downpours, a cluster of trenton and florence and bristol, not severe but as it heads up the split this has to be watched in the next 30 minutes. down in the south we have dew point s in the mid touper 70s, extremely oppressive and moisture loaded. that is where we see the storms now to the south, and lower dew points to the north and west and in pennsylvania it's quiet here

in the 4:00 hour. >> 92 is what it feels like in philadelphia, the same for dover and upper 80s in the lehigh valley and severe thunderstorm watch until 9:00 tonight, a good chunk of cluster of storms in richmond and baltimore heading into southern new jersey and delaware, a cold front to the west, that will interact with all of this moisture, early this evening at 6:00, in southeastern parts of pennsylvania, seeing downpours and thunderstorms erupt. that continues until 8:00 tonight and that pushes away and we catch a break, at midnight or thereafter, the cold front arrives from the west and that pushes through at 8:00 and the rain starts to exit new jersey and the sun is returning to the western suburbs of pennsylvania. 1 to 2 inches of rain in a short amounts of time and winds gusting to 60 miles per hour. and dangerous lightning and also some of that hail.

hello again, an accuweather alert, for the second time the delaware valley is under the gun when it comes to storms. lets get to adam joseph, for the latest on the watches and warnings that are coming our way. >> new warnings have popped up in the last 10 seconds here. live double scan shows the activity right now, as we head to the south of wilmington and smyrna and dover over to bridgeton and new jersey and cedarville and salem, all of these areas under severe thunderstorm warning it

continues until 5:15, wind is a problem and small hail and now also flooding rains in this area, this cluster drifted to woodbury and salem and elmer. if you put a mark here it's moving over 49, route 40 to 55 and south of new jersey turnp e turnpike. it won't end soon as it continues to drift. double scan up towards langhorne and florence, north of bristol, this is also a severe storm, with 15 lightning strikes in the last 15 minutes. a severe thunderstorm warning as it slowly drifts to the north at 20 miles per hour. winds over 60 miles per hour and

hail being reported with this particular storm, and that particular warning extends north to princeton, as far north as bensalem, it drifts to northern mercer county and that particular storm is a small storm but definitely a potent storm that we are following, now just north of bristol. as we take a wider look at double scan live, a severe storm tonight, the big of the concentration right now south of boston and richmond and baltimore pushes over new jersey, at this time. little going on in pennsylvania, there is a front to the west, we are watching to inter aktd with philadelphia. we are not out of woods this evening, a flash flood warning is in affect for the entire area where we can see the high rainfall rates in a short amount of time. the warning in new jersey and

one in the northern parts of ocean county. we'll look for new warnings and at double scan to see where the storms are tracking in the full accuweather forecast. utility workers in delaware worked to get everyone back online before today's storms roll in. the crews worked to remove a large tree in newcastle county, it knocked out service to two dozen homes and blocked thompson bridge road from brandywine creek to wood lawn road. a frightening night for a teenager in burlington county, that boy was reportedly struck by lightning and is recovering at crozier medical center, john rawlins has more now. >> the young man is identified by his brother as david botkin. he is in fair condition. during last night's violence

of a young woman. laura arojo was beaten and strangled to death and the recent graduate was stuffed into a duffle bag and discarded like trash into a kensington lot. the questions remain, who would do this and why. "action news" reporter, sara bloomquist is live now with more on this murder mystery. >> reporter: well, shirleen we learned new details about the murder of laura arojo, police believe her killer took steps to cover up the crime. she had just graduated from the art institute of philadelphia in december according to police, yesterday after 5:30 a.m., a man looking through trash found the fashion design major's body in the vacant lot of 2200 block of north kensington. today the medical examiner

determined she was murdered, badly beaten and strangled to death. >> her hands and feet were bound and she was put in a trash bag and folded into a blanket and stuffed into a duffle bag. >> everything she owned was found in bag as long side her body, police say she was living with two female friends at eighth and diamond and was actively looking for a new place to stay. two hours before her body was found her toyota rav 4 was found in south philadelphia and it was intensely set on fire, police believe her killer was trying to cover up evidence. >> she was a nice young lady and had a good future. >> people were stunned by the butteality of the crime. >> it's unfortunate, someone to come from the same schools that we come from, that is sad, my

in at collingdale courthouse this afternoon. williams was charged with attempted murder, assault and other charges in a hit and run accident in march, police say she deliberately struck his ex-girlfriend's boyfriend. and now he needs physical thermal. a delaware man can blame his sweet tooth for landing him behind bars, richard wells twig triggered an alarm last night. they found him leaving the parking lot with the resident's electronics, the thing that gach him away they spotted an unmelted drum stick in the console of his car, along with their stuff an ice-cream can cone was missing from the treezer. an arena in berks county is making safety changes during a demolition derby, this was

a fight. lets get another check of the roads right now, pallet pellman is in the "action news" center with an update. >> we are fighting adverse conditions, as we drive home here in buck county, the rain is coming down and getting drenched here along route 1 at stoney hill road, it's not looking super, these are the southbound cars heading towards oxford valley, waiting out some of the heaviest of rain, it's still coming down here along route 1 in buck county, the traffic is getting by but look for the big puddles forming and ponding on the roadway, here along route 1. you know along the willow park mall blocking a lane and still a pair of crash as long montgomery county along pine road and madison avenue. a crash at 322 at 82 manor road

now abdam joseph is watchin warnings and watches. >> light showers in lancaster and chester county and delaware county in southeastern pennsylvania, but we are rocking and rolling in southern new jersey and southern parts of delaware, in fact severe thunderstorm warnings continue for buck county and pretty much all of mercer county and trenton and newcastle county, is being taken out of the thunderstorm warning, it continues for northern parts of kent county and north and northwestern parts of cumberland county west of millville. we are dealing with this severe storm near the split of 21 when you head north and west of downtown trenton towards pennington along 206, some very torrential rain, 48 lightning strikes in the last 15 minutes with strong winds, we have this cluster of storms that are not

really severe in this area of new jersey but still flooding rains along 55 and 322, the new jersey turnpike south of woods bury and woods town, a lot of frequent lightning, 98 lightning strikes in the last 15 minutes, heading away from chestertown and merrydale and smyrna route 1, and lifts to the north knowledge east at 25 miles per hour, 226 lightning strikes with this, very strong damaging winds, as this head as way in eastern maryland into the state of delaware. just got this picture in from liza in glassboro, this tree coming down in her backyard with some of those strong winds with storms in southern new jersey, i said to her, is this tree dead? and she said yes thankfully mother nature ripped the roots out and didn't damage anything. good news for the backyard and

liza in glassboro, until 8:30 p.m. it encompasses cumberland county and mullica hill and franklinville and deerfield where close to 4 inches of rain has already fallen in that location, we have the pipeline of moisture coming up the i-95 corridor and a large low, a cold low for this time of year over the great lakes, extending this cold front that will sweep everything out of here first thing tomorrow morning. until then the threat of the severe storms continues until 7:30 tomorrow night and it lights up across the board in southeastern pennsylvania where it's rather quiet here this afternoon. 9:30, raining heavily in new jersey and delaware and early tomorrow morning, at 8:00 rain starts to exit new jersey and can you see the front and the clearing line arriving from the west. drying out here tomorrow with the morning and showers and
